Marjan Boers and Johnny Sheehan
On Thursday 22 February 2018 The Wheel, Ireland’s largest representative and support body for the community and voluntary sector, will hold a special event for local community groups in Kells, Co. Meath with Mairead McGuinness MEP. This is a FREE event, but registration is essential.
Mairead McGuinness MEP
Part of a new European project led by The Wheel and hosted by The Wheel’s Regional Champion in Co. Meath, Marjan Boers, this event will ignite interactive discussions on:
- Europe: Local MEP, Mairead, will give an overview of her work in Europe and how civil society organisations can engage. The Wheel’s European Programmes Officer, Emma Murtagh, will also be on hand to advise on EU funding and projects relevant to local organisations.
- Sustainability: Vincent Carragher, research fellow at The Wheel and Trinity College, will put a spotlight on great community work taking place around Ireland to promote economic, political and environmental sustainability. Examples of good practice and useful tools will be highlighted.
This will be an invaluable opportunity for community and voluntary organisations in Co. Meath to share the issues they face, network among each other and to learn about The Wheel’s helpful Regional Support Programme.
With almost 1,300 members located in every county of Ireland, ranging from the very smallest voluntary or community groups to some of the largest, most well established national charities, The Wheel is a thriving organisation.
